We represent the interests of 1.4 million landlords in the UK, the NLA provides a unified voice for private landlords throughout the UK, from large portfolio landlords to single-bedroom flats, promoting and protecting members' interests to national and local government.

The Residential Landlords Association (RLA) was founded in 1993 and is a leading voice for landlords in England & Wales.

Representing over 6,000 landlords throughout England & Wales, which means a combined portfolio in excess of 150,000 properties. The RLA with strength, reputation, experience and professionalism ensures that landlords are a member of the most effective lobbying organisation to local and national government.

The Midland Landlord Accreditation Scheme (MLAS) is a scheme to recognise and promote good landlords who provide their tenants with high quality, safe accommodation.

The code of conduct requires Landlords to comply with the law and carry out urgent works promptly. If additional work is needed the landlord must draw up a plan of action based on the National Federation of Residential Landlords' Code. A 'fit and proper person' is someone who has not committed any offences or had action taken against them as detailed in the Housing Act 2004.

The London Landlords Accreditation Scheme (LLAS) is a partnership of landlord organisations, London Councils and university accommodation units aimed to provide landlords across London with information and professional developments.

The scheme is one which will be based on delivering managerial development for participating landlords. Integral to it will be the 'fit and proper person' concept, which will be closely linked to a Code of Conduct which every accredited landlord must sign up to.

The East Midlands Landlord Accreditation Scheme (EMLAS) is the first regional accreditation scheme, outside of London, to recognise the abilities of the landlord and not just the property standards.

The scheme has been in development since 2006 and boasts landlord and tenant groups as well as letting agents and Local Authority officers on its steering group. EMLAS works in partnership with Local Authorities to provide both landlords and tenants with up to date and relevant information and guidelines on all aspects of tenancy.
